What will happen to my rubbish?

What happens to your rubbish depends on the type of waste but as a Zero to Landfill company, you can rest assured that all waste collected by Simply @ Home will be sent for recycling or to an Energy from Waste facility. Please ask one of our team if you’d like any further information.

Skips

Is a skip right for me?

Sometimes a ‘Man and Van’ collection service might be a better-suited option. This quick collection service can be booked in advance and doesn’t require the space that a skip does.

Do I require a permit for a skip?

If the skip will be placed on private property you don’t need a permit but if it needs to be placed on a road or pavement your council could require you to get a permit. Note, this will incur an additional cost. What size skip should I order?

Our skips come in 8-yard and 12-yard sizes. By knowing how much waste you’re throwing away it can help you avoid paying too much for your skip hire.

What is the length of hire?

The hire period includes 10 days of hire. If you require it for longer, we can accommodate that for a surcharge of £18 for an extra 7 days.

What can I put in a skip?

Below is a list of items that shouldn’t be placed in our skips:

  • Tyres
  • Paints/Paint Cans
  • CRT Monitors/TV
  • Asbestos
  • Clinical or Offensive Waste
  • Solvents
  • Liquids
  • Oil
  • Batteries
  • Plasterboard
  • Hazardous Waste
  • Toxic Waste
  • Radioactive Waste
  • Gas Cylinders
  • Mattresses

Clearances

What if I don't know which load size to choose?

If you don't know which load size to choose for your waste, head over to our contact page and upload an image of it. From there, our waste experts can have a look and advise you.

What labour is included?

Simply @ Home crews will carry and load your waste into the truck and sweep up after themselves. However, any furniture that needs to be broken down is unlikely to be collected; for example, if your sofa needs to be sawed in half in order to fit out the front door.

If your waste is particularly dirty such as rubble or tiles, please bag up this waste or lay a sheet down on the floor.

What type of waste will you collect?

Simply @ Home’s man and van clearance services will accept most household rubbish, including bulky and electrical items. You can always speak to our team if you’re unsure about anything.

Where does my waste need to be?

As long as the waste is accessible, our team will collect your waste from virtually anywhere in your house or garden. The crew will need somewhere to park close to your home and there’s often a time limit depending on how much waste is being collected.

What if I overestimate how much waste I have?

Don’t worry; not many people can fully know how much room their waste will take up in a van. You can read about Simply@Home’s fair price policy to put your mind at ease here.

Wheelie Bins

What can I put in my wheelie bin?

Our domestic bin collection service will only collect what you’d traditionally put in your household bins; general household waste and recycling. This service shouldn’t be confused with a skip or other rubbish collections. If you think one of these services might be better suited to you, check out our skip hire and ‘Man and a Van’ services

Where should I put my bin for collection?

As you would with your council collections, please leave your wheelie bin in an accessible place near the roadside for our team to collect.

Do I need to sign a contract?

We only ask for you to sign a three-month rolling contract when it comes to a scheduled wheelie bin service. There are several reasons why a contract is important. Firstly, it doubles as the Waste Transfer Note between us and you, this is a legal requirement and something that we both need to add legitimacy to the services we are performing for you. Secondly, it adds in some security for us and you, it’s there to ensure we do our job and that you agree to us working for you.

What are the terms of my contract?

Our standard contracts are a minimum 3 month rolling and require a month cancellation notice period in writing, prior to the anniversary date to finish on the anniversary date.

Can I change my collection day?

If you need to change the day that your waste is collected, please contact us via our contact formemail or by calling 03330 433 033 and we will look into amending your collection schedule to better suit your needs.
